David Leverett - Colorist & Photorealism Painter
Art especially painting realistically has always been a very important part of my life. My dedication to a high level craft through observation skills and attention to detail has made me the artist I am today The lines and forms and other various shapes whether found in nature or manmade objects are just a short list of things I find attractive and that I have always been inspired by. As an artist I try to shine a light on a way of life that is being lost and for some things there is no coming back if we don’t make the world aware. When I look at a forgotten subject I try to visualize how the car, animal or landscape may have looked or can look giving it a voice where none is found. Giving me a chance to show the world how priceless things really are. As I paint I document both close–ups of different parts of the forgotten or in some cases the whole subject and use these as the base of my paintings. I control the brightness of the color and the detail in the shadows to create an image that is both almost real and impossibly real. As the artist I control the palette to bring the impact to the final image, giving it a chance to shine once more and not to be forgotten. Conserving what once was and what is for future generations to admire.
